The front of the medal features the Lion Capital of Ashoka with the national motto 'Satyameva Jayate' below it. The inscription '9 YEARS LONG SERVICE' in Latin script and 'नव वर्ष दीर्घ सेवा' in Devanagari script are arranged in a circular pattern around the central emblem.
